A Specialist Orthodontist is a person who has first studied to become a dentist and then has completed at least a further two years of full-time study at a recognised University to obtain the Master of Dental Science Degree in Orthodontics.
The State Dental Board requires that a dentist must have completed this extra study and training culminating in the Masters Degree before being entitled to be called an Orthodontist.
